Verbs are two kinds, Finite Verbs and Non-finite.
Finite verb is that type verb which is limited by the number and person of its subject.
He drives a car.
I am reading a book.
Non-finite verb is that type of verb which is unlimited by the number and person of the subject.
They are ready to play now.
We are working their.
FINITE
- Transitive (used with a direct object)(I agree with you, I stopped the car)
- Intransitive (used without a direct object) (I agree, The car stopped)
- Auxiliary (also called helping verb,it changes or helps another verb) ( I have done my work, they are coming home today)
NON-FINITE
- Infinite (I wanted to go, I like to write ) to play, to go, to say, to learn etc are used as nouns.
- Gerund (Non-finite Verb + ing that functions as a noun). Traveling is a joy. We are playing.
- Participle (Non-finite Verbs + adjectives are known as participles.
