Define Adverb
Adverb is word or phrase which modifies the meaning of a Verb, an adjective or another adverb.
Kinds of Adverb
1. SIMPLE ADVERBS
2. RELATIVE ADVERBS
3. INTERROGATIVE ADVERBS

1. Simple Adverbs : It modify the meaning of the words.
KINDS OF ADVERB
- Adverbs of time : since, soon, ago, early, presently, before, instantly, now, etc
- Adverbs of place : under—above, forward—backward, far—near, within—without, up—down, etc
- Adverbs of number : firstly, never, again, once, often, always, seldom, etc
- Adverbs of quantity : very much, whole, so, too, almost, a little, much, etc
- Adverbs of manner : well, slowly, badly, quickly, so, gently, thus, etc
- Adverbs of reason : so, hence, therefore etc
- Adverbs of Affirmative : certainly, no, not at all, yes, by all means, etc.
2. Relative Adverbs : It helps to join adverbial clauses to main clauses.
3. Interrogative Adverbs : used for asking questions. How long? Where? Why? When? etc.
Important Adverbs
Very
- Used before adverb and adjective in the positive degree.
- Used with the present participle.
- Used to modify much.
Much
- Used in the comparative degree.
- Used with the past participle.
- Used to modify a verb and adverb.
Ago
- Used to show time period measured back from now.
- Never used as a conjunction or preposition.
Before
- Used to show indefinite previous time (former occasion)
- Used as an adverb of time, conjunction of time, preposition of time.
Too
- Used to signify more than enough.
- Never be used for very and much.
So/ As
- So is used in negative sentences.
- As is used in positive sentences.
Probably
- It means must likely.
Perhaps
- It means possibly may be.
