Define sentence with example:
A group of words in a proper order which gives us complete meaning is a sentence. Or
A sentence is a grammatical unit consisting of one or more words that express a complete thought.
Example: "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog."
This sentence consists of a subject "The quick brown fox" and a predicate "jumps over the lazy dog", and it expresses a complete thought. It is grammatically correct and can stand alone as a complete statement.
1. I am a boy.
2. My pen is black.
3. When will you come back?
1. An Imperative Sentence
It is a type of sentence in which order, command, request and advice is expressed.
e.g.,
1. Shut the door. (Order)
2. Do not touch the fire. (command)
3. Please give me your mobile for an hour.(request)
4. We should obey our parents.(advice)
2. An Interrogative sentence
It is an another type of sentence, in this type of sentence, we can ask question.
At the end of interrogative sentences are used a interrogation mark (?).
e.g.,
1. What are you doing?
2. Who is there?
3. An Exclamatory Sentence
It is expresses some surprise, joy, sorrow.
In exclamatory Sentences we put (!) mark at the end.
e.g.,
1. Hurrah! We have won.
2. Oh! He killed a snake.
4. An Optative Sentence
It is a sentence that expresses a wish or desire.
Optative Sentences put also exclamation mark (!) at the end.
e.g.,
1. May u live long!
2. I wish u were a minister!
